SpaceX’s Starship spacecraft and Super Heavy rocket, collectively known as Starship, embody an exceptional transportation system capable of transporting both crew and cargo to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars, and beyond. At the rear, six highly efficient Raptor engines power the 50m long craft, which took SpaceX a decade to develop.
On April 20th, 2023, SpaceX’s inaugural integrated Starship rocket took off from the company’s seaside Starbase facility at Boca Chica Beach on South Texas’ Gulf Coast. Unfortunately, the stack tumbled and ultimately exploded just under four minutes after takeoff. Despite the setback, SpaceX has made tremendous strides in the Starship program. The company intends to conduct three private spaceflights using Starship, two of which will carry passengers around the moon.
