Blog 1 – Size of celestial objects

In this blog, I want to share a Youtube video about the comparison of the sizes of various celestial bodies in the universe, from the smallest particles in the microworld to enormous galaxies. In the last two weeks of class, we learned about the mathematical expressions for astronomical distances. However, from my personal perspective, these distances represented by scientific notations do not give us an intuitive impression of the sizes of planets, stars, black holes, and galaxies. This video compares many astronomical objects in a small-to-large format, which I believe will help us realize how vast the universe actually is. Another feeling I had after watching this video is that, although our sun is not a particularly big star, the overall scale of our solar system is actually quite impressive, even comparable to the size of some super stars and black holes. If you have any thoughts after watching the video, please feel free to share them with me in the comments section.
